National university corporations are of a public nature and do not aim to make profits; therefore, unlike private companies, they prepare profit and loss statements to clarify their operating status rather than business performance.Education and research expensesThis increase of 600 million yen was due to the promotion of projects resulting from the acquisition of subsidies from the World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) and the Inter-University Exchange Project, among others.Commissioned research expenses, etc.Due to the revision of the National University Corporation Accounting Standard, in principle, if a depreciable asset is acquired after AY2023 using income from commissioned research, etc., and the asset is planned to be used after the research is completed, the asset must be depreciated based on the statutory useful life under the tax law. The impact of this change in accounting treatment on depreciation expenses was a decrease of 240 million yen.Extraordinary incomeThe decrease was 20.74 billion yen due to a special accounting treatment for AY2022 only (turning the balance of contra-accounts for assets into revenue due to the revision of the National University Corporation Accounting Standards).Other: 0.4%General and administrative expenses: 1.9%Personnel expenses: 44.8%Commissioned research expenses, etc.: 5.6%*Expenses include gross income.Ordinary expensesNon-recurring lossesTotal ordinary expensesOrdinary revenueExtraordinary incomeTotal revenueNet profitReversal of reserve for specific purposesGross profitItemTotal:90,655million yenReversal of reserve for specific purposes: 0.3%Other: 2.4%Management Expenses Grants: 28.5%Student fee revenue: 10.2%Profit and loss statement P/LExpensesGross profit: 5.2%RevenueSubsidy revenue: 5.4%
