HIROSHIMA UNIVERSITY INTEGRATED REPORT 2024
4/56

HIROSHIMA UNIVERSITYIn 2020, the “phoenix mark” based on the “phoenix” (immortal bird and Palmae plant), the symbol of Hiroshima University, and the mascot “ひろティー®” (Hiroty), a friendly character version of the mark, were created. These designs have been created by Mr. KAMIGAKI Hirofumi, an illustrator active both in Japan and abroad.03The university crest, chosen in 1956 under the first president, MORITO Tatsuo, is a stylized representation of a new life and a Phoenix leaf featuring green, the color of peace. The phoenix is a sacred bird in Egyptian mythology that, after living for 500 years, sets itself on fire within its nest and rises renewed from the ashes. The immortal bird is a symbol of Hiroshima University, which was reborn out of the ashes of Hiroshima City after it was laid to ruin by the atomic bomb. The Creation of New Forms of KnowledgeCollaboration with the Local, Regional, and International CommunityThe Pursuit of PeaceContinuous Self-DevelopmentThe Nurturing of Well-Rounded Human BeingsHiroshima University CrestPhoenix MarkMascot “ひろティー®” (Hiroty)GuidingPrinciplesGuiding Principles
