We are also actively involved in nurturing young researchers and will continue to improve our university’s research capabilities and share them with society.Activity reportResearchwhich is described as an indicator that reflects an institution’s ability to geographically diversify its international research network through repeated collaboration with other research institutions. In this category, our university is ranked 4th in Japan, which shows that we have actively been conducting research in collaboration with research institutions around the world.Looking at the percentage of top 10% papers by research field (ESI) and the percentage of internationally co-authored papers by research field (ESI), we rank high in the fields of clinical medicine and physics. Furthermore, the field of space science is one of HU’s strengths, ranking first in the world share of papers by ESI and the ratio of top 10% papers by ESI.Hiroshima University’s ever-growing research capabilitiesRegarding HU’s research capabilities, the total number of papers published and the global share of the number of papers published show that the results increased by approximately 1.8 times between 2012 and 2023. Although the proportion of top 10% papers has remained sideways, the number of papers has been increasing in recent years.The number of internationally co-authored papers has increased approximately 2.2-fold between 2012 and 2023. HU has international co-authors all over the world, and by collaborating with various research institutions, we are continually producing papers.The QS World University Rankings 2025, published in June 2024, included a score category called “International Research Network,” Sharing world-class research with society1.8times 2.2times
